Youth unemployment in South Africa reached a staggering 55.75% in 2020. This rate of unemployment is a major contributor to many of South Africa’s most pressing social issues including hunger, drug abuse, alcoholism, disease, crime and other outcomes of poverty. Ensuring that young people find gainful employment is one of the most transformative strategies for lasting social and economic impact in the country.

In an increasingly digitized and more globalized economy, fresh ideas, business models and ventures are emerging to scale access to digital skills-based youth employment. South Africa is poised to potentially become a digital skills hub on the continent if we are able to scale these solutions. The World Bank, Youth Employment Service, and Impact Amplifier are seeking YOUR scalable digital skills ideas. Submissions close by 17th May 2021.
